Life After GRADUATION!!

I am adjusting well to the working 8-5 life. Not having the burden of studio projects every day is a breath of fresh air. Though I am grateful to have a job right out of school, I am still hunting for the one job that will help get me to where I want to be and have the opportunity to gain an endless amount of knowledge of things about architecture and related to architecture.

Since graduation, I've sent out hundreds of emails with my resume attached to hiring and interested employers within the architecture/construction job markets from postings on Craigslist, Corporate Websites, Monster, CareerBuilder, University of Houston UCS, Linkedin, etc. and I've received only a handful back that has request me to come in for an interview. I enjoy ever job that I get and I am grateful to have each and every one of them especially the one I got right as I finished school. It is hard to practice design when you are drafting details for shop drawings, but it is a fun thing to learn to know how to ACTUALLY assemble a window or metal roof.

In about a month, I will be making my first trip of hopefully many with my girlfriend to Vietnam (first trip ever to visit my ancestor's homeland). I am excited to see if the news and reports are true of their booming architecture as a result of a growing economy. It has been 2 years and going with my girlfriend.

To my friends that have seen me in the past couple month with a new bauble on my finger. Yes, my girlfriend and I are a legally married couple now since September of 2011. We decided that the best way for her to go back to school to get her Masters and work was to get a green card by marriage and later on after our schooling is done and my student loan debts are settled, we will starting thinking about having a small wedding to officially announce our marriage to family and friends. I am not putting this on blast yet, just letting you know the situation as of right now.

Signing out,
Chris
